Safe area
The bleed should extend at least 2 mm beyond the final size on all sides.
Keep important text and images inside the safe area and away from the trim line to prevent accidental cutting.
Design & Prepress for Business Cards
- For sharp results, set Raster Effect to 300 ppi in Illustrator, or set resolution to 300 pixels/inch in Photoshop.
- Set color mode to CMYK (printing color system, different from RGB for screens).
- Design with trimming in mind: make the artwork larger than the final size (9 cm x 5.5 cm) by adding at least 2 mm on each side, resulting in an artwork size of 9.4 cm x 5.9 cm.
- Besides the bleed, also keep a 2 mm inner margin (safe area) inside the final size with no critical text or images to avoid trimming issues.
